"China-Germany Youth Interns Exchange Programme" - exchange programme for young interns between the Federal Republic of Germany and the People's Republic of China

The "China-Germany Youth Interns Exchange Programme" is part of the German-Chinese intergovernmental agreements and is aimed at young German students who would like to broaden their horizons and gain valuable work experience through an internship in China. We offer the following:

  • We will support you throughout the entire application process, help you with the complete organisation and planning of your internship and our cooperation partners in China will introduce you to subject-specific companies and companies offering internships
  • As part of the programme, you will be introduced to three potential companies that match your requirements and your field of study. A two-way matching programme ensures that the right company finds the right intern

We will clear the bureaucratic hurdles and apply for a work permit for the People's Republic of China.

In addition to all the organisational matters, we also prepare you optimally for your trip to China.
During the individual "Living in China" lesson, we will explain everything you need to know about the country and culture:

  • You will learn the first words to communicate
  • Rules of behaviour
  • Payment with Alipay
  • Communication portal
  • Clarification of last open questions

  • German citizenship
  • Students (including Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral students) who have completed at least four semesters at a university or collegen
  • University graduates who completed their studies less than 12 months ago
  • between 18 and 35 years old

The Confucius Institute Munich charges a total fee of €900, whereby the first consultation is always free of charge. Subsequently, the fees are charged as graduated prices.

Are you an alumni and have attended at least 2 of our courses? Then you can benefit from our exclusive alumni discount of €150!

Our partner organization charges an additional fee of 11,000 CNY. Additional services can also be booked.

  • We are available on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm and Thursdays from 3 to 5 pm
  • The consultation can take place either by telephone, in person or online via Zoom.

Looking for work-experience in China?

We have been informed of two internship opportunities at well-known German companies in China for German students.

The positions are aimed at German students aged approximately 20–30 and offer the opportunity to gain practical experience in an international working environment in China over several months. Students from technical fields (e.g. mechanical engineering) are particularly encouraged to apply, but applications from other disciplines are also welcome.

The internships are available from July 2026 and are filled on a rolling basis, meaning applications are also possible beyond the summer months.

  • Start date: from July 2026
  • Duration: 3–6 months
  • Placement in an international corporate environment in China

Profile:

  • Enrolled students (Germany)
  • Interest in international collaboration and intercultural exchange
  • Preferably with a technical background
  • Independent and reliable working style

  • Binding registration including data protection declaration (CI form, placement fee: €900)

  • Proof of studies (certificate of enrollment and current transcript of records)

  • Copy of certificate of good conduct

Important note:
Please note that the processing time for the required work visa for China is at least 8 weeks and should be taken into account when applying.
