About the Summer Camp

About the Summer Camp

The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp is an educational and cultural trip organized by East China Normal University. The Confucius Institute Munich has been organising this special China journey since 2009. The participants collect intercultural experiences, and experience the foreign culture directly and authentically.

The group flies with German-speaking supervisors from Munich airport. The itinerary within China varies, but generally includes a stay in Shanghai. A Chinese language course, along with workshops in calligraphy, Tai Chi, martial arts, and music, plus exciting excursions and opportunities to meet Chinese students, guarantee an enriching and engaging experience. The students experience the culture of traditional and modern China up close.

Successful Completion of the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp 2025 for Students

Erfolgreicher Abschluss des Chinese Bridge Summer Camps 2025 für Schüler

From April 11 to 24 2025, students from all over the world embarked on an unforgettable journey as part of the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp in Shanghai. Among them were the German participants from the Confucius Institute Munich, who departed from Munich Airport with German-speaking supervision.

A glimpse of the camp is available in our video recap on YouTube.

The goal of this two-week program was to deepen knowledge of the Chinese language, gain intercultural experiences, and experience the vibrant diversity of Chinese culture firsthand. In 11 thematic Chinese courses, 6 exciting cultural workshops, and 7 varied excursions, participants applied their knowledge in practice and explored Shanghai from both its traditional and modern sides.

The diverse program of activities delighted everyone: from painting Chinese fans to making rice balls and dumplings. Exploring the legendary Bund, participants were impressed by the harmonious coexistence of historical architecture and futuristic skyscrapers. At the Shanghai Museum, they delved into China’s millennia-old culture. In the idyllic Yu Garden, the serene elegance of southern Chinese garden art blended with the lively dynamics of Huai-style culture for a truly unique experience.

The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp is organized by the renowned East China Normal University. Since 2009, the Confucius Institute Munich has offered this special educational and cultural journey, allowing students to authentically discover both traditional and modern China—through language courses, workshops such as calligraphy, Tai Chi, martial arts, or music, and encounters with young people from around the world.

We would be delighted if you are interested in the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for students next year.
