The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp is an educational and cultural trip for secondary school students. The Confucius Institute Munich has been organising this special China journey for youth from Southern Bavaria since 2009. The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp is more than just youth travel. The students collect intercultural experiences, and experience the foreign culture directly and authentically.
The two-week camp takes place annually in August. The group flies with German-speaking supervisors from Munich airport. The itinerary within China varies, but generally includes a stay in Beijing with a visit to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. A Chinese language course, workshops (calligraphy, tai chi, martial arts and music), excursions and meetings with Chinese students guarantee that everyone stays busy. The students experience the culture of traditional and modern China up close.
All costs during the stay in China are covered (accomodation, meals, transportation, entry fees etc)
The costs for flights (approximately €900), visa and obligatory travel health and liability insurance, as well as spending money, must be paid by the families.
The flight is organised and booked by the Confucius Institute Munich.
All students from the age of 15 years, who live in Southern Bavaria and study Chinese at school or in their free time (and don't have Chinese heritage), can apply. Evidence of language skills is to be shown as part of the application. The number of participants is limited.
Students who don't have any Chinese language skills at the time of their application can take a course at the Confucius Institute Munich. We reserve the right to evaluate the success of course participation with an examination, and to reject the application at short notice if necessary.
