Every year the Center for Language Education and Cooperation awards scholarships to Chinese learners for a study trip to a university in China.
We support the application of our course participants!
Depending on the scholarship category, applicants can select from more than 100 universities. The list of universities can be found online on the Confucius Institute scholarship website (http://www.chinese.cn). Subjects such as Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, Chinese philosophy, TCM, Chinese music or Chinese dance are offered. Our partner university is the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) in Beijing.
The application period begins on March 1, 2025.
The application deadline for the Winter Semester 2025 is May 15, 2025 (Beijing Time).
The application deadline for the Summer Semester 2026 is October 31, 2025 (Beijing Time).
Available study places are limited. We encourage you to apply early to increase your chances of securing a spot at your preferred university.

Current and former students of the Confucius Institute Munich who have completed at least two language courses at the institute (proof of two course certificates).
Private students and participants of corporate courses.
Winners of the Chinese Bridge competitions (汉语桥).
Chinese language teachers and those aspiring to become one (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language).
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 35 on September 1, 2025, and must not hold Chinese citizenship. (For the ChaF scholarships, the requirements are: Chinese language teachers under 45 years of age, and undergraduate students under 25 years of age.)

The scholarship covers the complete tuition fees, accommodation, a monthly living allowance and health insurance. Accommodation is generally in a student residence (twin room) on campus. Anyone who, with the permission of the university, lives off campus will receive a monthly rental cost allowance of 700 RMB.
The monthly living allowance (2500 RMB/month) is paid by the university.

Next, create your own account on the Confucius Institute Scholarship website http://www.chinese.cn and complete the application form. If you have any questions, we are happy to assist you.
We will forward the applications of suitable candidates to the accepting universities in China. The final selection will then be made by the universities and submitted to the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban. A final decision will be made, and the selected candidates will be notified about the success of their application.
