The Confucius Institute Munich has been offering a wide range of options for learning Chinese for 15 years: Group lessons, intensive courses, total immersion, private lessons, conversation courses, reading club, language study abroad. In the course of the corona crisis, our offer has adapted to the new challenges. The introduction of e-learning has enabled us to expand our range to include virtual courses. These not only offer a flexible learning opportunity for everyone, but also give working people outside Munich access to learning Chinese. The Confucius Institute Munich will be closed to visitors from 3 August through 30 August 2026 (inclusive).
During this period, we will remain available by email (info(at)konfuzius-muenchen.de) and will respond to your inquiries as promptly as possible. Requests regarding private Chinese lessons can also be submitted by email as usual.

On May 30, 2026, the German final of the 19th Chinese Bridge (汉语桥) Chinese Proficiency Competition for Secondary School Students was held in Hanover. Eleven young contestants from across Germany competed under the theme “追梦中文，不负韶华” (“Pursuing Dreams Through Chinese, Making the Most of Youth”). Through speeches in Chinese, a quiz on Chinese culture, and creative talent performances, the participants shared their personal stories and connections with China.
With outstanding talent, passion, and impressive language skills, Pauline Kramm (宝丽娜) emerged victorious against competitors from all over Germany. Nominated by the Confucius Institute Munich, she won First Prize and will now represent Germany at the global final of the Chinese Bridge Competition in China.
In her speech, Pauline spoke about how she first discovered Chinese culture. What began as a fortunate coincidence quickly developed into a genuine passion. Through Chinese martial arts, she gradually became fascinated by Chinese culture, which ultimately inspired her to learn the language as well. What started as curiosity grew into an enthusiasm that continues to accompany her today. For Pauline, the Chinese language and martial arts complement one another in a unique way and have helped her gain a deeper understanding of China and build a close connection with the country.
With her authentic presentation, positive presence, and fluent Chinese, Pauline impressed both the judges and the audience. She also demonstrated her exceptional talent during the performance round. With remarkable precision, dynamism, and expressiveness, she showcased several forms of traditional Chinese martial arts. Sword, staff, and empty-hand routines followed one another in a powerful display, bringing the fascination of this centuries-old tradition vividly to life on stage. The audience rewarded her performance with enthusiastic applause.
For Pauline, this achievement represents the continuation of a special journey. Three years ago, as a primary school student, she participated in the Chinese Bridge Chinese Show for Primary School Students in Germany and won first place. At the global final, she additionally received an Encouragement Award and the “Best Stage Presence” Award in the younger age category. Now, at the age of twelve, she has returned to the Chinese Bridge stage and seamlessly continued her success story with another first-place victory.
Behind this remarkable achievement stand not only Pauline’s hard work and determination, but also the support of her family. Her Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute Munich describes her as a student who approaches every task with extraordinary commitment, great care, and genuine enthusiasm. Throughout the entire competition process, Pauline was supported by the Confucius Institute Munich—from registration and preparation all the way to participation in the German final.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Chinese Bridge Competition in Germany (2002–2026). As an important platform for young people in Germany to learn Chinese and discover China, Chinese Bridge has continuously promoted linguistic exchange and mutual cultural understanding between the two countries.
The Confucius Institute Munich will continue to support more young people in Germany in learning Chinese and exploring Chinese culture. Through encounters with language and culture, students can broaden their horizons and contribute fresh, youthful perspectives to cultural exchange between China and Germany.
