Day Of The Confucius Institute (Open Day)

On Saturday, 26 September 2026, the Confucius Institute Munich will open its doors. Starting at 3:00 p.m., we invite you to discover Chinese language and culture and explore the wide range of cultural activities we offer.

Whether you come on your own, with friends or with your family, you can look forward to trial sessions, traditional games, creative workshops and plenty of hands-on activities.

Programme

Trial Sessions and Cultural Activities

  • Chinese language trial session
  • Guzheng trial session
  • Introduction to Taiji and Chinese martial arts
  • Mahjong trial session for participants aged 16 and over
  • Guided tour of the exhibition “Encounters 遇见”

Games and Hands-on Activities

In teams of two to three people, you can take on a variety of challenges related to Chinese culture:

  • Chinese culture memory game
  • Charades
  • Drawing relay game
  • Traditional Touhu throwing game
  • “Three Legs, Two People” challenge

Teams that successfully complete the activities will receive Culture Experience Vouchers.

Traditional Chinese Art Workshops

  • Chinese calligraphy and traditional painting
  • Making Chinese-inspired beaded accessories

The workshops will run continuously throughout the event. No advance registration is required; participation is possible while places are available.

Culture Experience Vouchers

Culture Experience Vouchers can be exchanged for small gifts at the event or used to receive a discount on the art workshops. You can earn additional vouchers by taking part in the games or by coming to the Open Day dressed in red or in traditional Chinese clothing. Vouchers will also be given away through our social media channels.

With the exception of the art workshops and drinks, for which a small fee will be charged, all activities and trial sessions are free of charge.

We look forward to a varied and enjoyable afternoon filled with encounters, shared activities and new insights into Chinese culture.
