The 24 annual periods

24 Jieqi

A podcast with Nelly Ma and KANG Wei

In this podcast of the Confucius Institute Munich, the 24 Chinese annual periods according to the lunar calendar are presented once a month. China has an ancient peasant culture, which is shaped by the calendar like hardly any other. For thousands of years, people have observed the change of nature depending on the position of the sun and have tried to explain it by the action of opposing forces, Yin and Yang.

The traditional Chinese calendar is oriented to agricultural events and is based on the observation of the course of the sun. In addition to the four seasons and the 12 months, there are also the so-called 24 annual periods. These sections are called "Jieqi" in Chinese.

Based on the calendar, traditional Chinese medicine has developed precise rules for nutrition and behavior in the individual sections of the year, which promote well-being and prevent illness. These traditions and rules regarding one's own behavior in everyday life or tips on nutrition are presented to you together with cooking tips and short exercises in this podcast once a month.

More information about healthy living according to the 24 annual periods of the Chinese calendar can be found in the book "Gesund leben im Jahreskreise" by the authors Nelly Ma and Dr. Susanne Hornfeck. The book can be ordered for 14,50€ by mail to info@konfuzius-muenchen.de.

Episode Details

Folge 24: 24 Jieqi – CHUNFEN 春分 (Frühlings-Tagundnachtgleiche)

Erscheinungsdatum: 21.
